We curate everything on this site. We do not test it — nobody who tells you they tested forty products this month tested forty products this month. What we do is read the evidence that exists: aggregated ratings, what buyers actually report, the listing itself, and the price on the day we checked.
How we choose
Every product answers one question before it can be here: is this a real product worth owning?
- A strong rating on a real number of reviews, not five glowing ones
- An honest listing — the photos and the claims match the product
- A live link to the exact product page
- We would recommend it to someone we know
A product that fails any of those never enters, which is why you will not find us dunking on things here. There is nothing to dunk on: what fails simply is not on the shelf.
The marks
On top of that, a product can earn up to five marks. They are optional. A product with none of them still belongs here — it passed the only test that decides entry. Each mark is decided from a different kind of evidence, so no two of them mean the same thing.
- Essentials — most people here are better off owning one, whatever their taste. If the case needs an “if you’re into…” in front of it, it does not get this mark
- Actually useful — it solves a real problem you can name
- Take my money — the want lands from the photo and the product itself; one photo sells it
- YOLO — it costs more than it has to, and it is still worth it. What you would buy if money were not the question
- Hidden gem — it does not come up in a normal search, it is usually a small maker, and it beats what does come up. Badly distributed, not badly made
The catch
Every product page carries one honest downside, or who it is not for. It costs us the occasional sale and it is the reason to come back.
